When our arms are moving, our brain stops thinking. And this is vital to our overall health, because otherwise we never shut off our mental hamster wheel. We ruminate over things said and not said, make mental lists, worry, regret, plan, and carry on in our minds. Our brain needs a break. And that is why manual labor is so important to safeguarding our mental health. We need to get our bodies busy and our hands moving, with something , anything; gardening, playing an instrument or working out, in order to stop our brain from working so hard. So if you find yourself on the merry-go-round of stinkin thinkin, feeling blue, or overwhelmed, do your brain a favor and go plant some flowers.
