Welcome to week 20 of The Weekly Well! Here is where you will find weekly inspiration to live your best life. This week I want to piggy-back on the blog from last week, Make Your Home a Haven: & Renew Your Energy and Soul. If you didn't catch that one, head on over and read it now! You can find it here. This week I want to talk about how to create joy in your home!
As I said, this topic coincides perfectly with the blog from last week as learning to create joy in your home is a perfect way to make it a haven! Friends, my intention with the Weekly Well is to keep giving you tools for your tool chest so you can kick anxiety and worry to the curb. Sometimes things work out where we tackle a big topic and then build on different facets week to week! This way, I know you have the tools you need!
Back to how to create joy in the home! I say it a lot, but this is so important! I, myself am working on this all the time and am very aware of how important it is.
Your home is a place where you should feel joy.
Ten for Ten Challenge
Because I think learning how to create joy in your home is so important, I am going to give you a challenge for this week: A Ten for Ten Challenge.
Here is what I want you to do:
- Grab a piece of paper and pen
- Buzz around your whole house
- List 10 things that you are tolerating
- Over the next 10 days, eradicate them one by one
This type of challenge will take us beautifully into fall and is the perfect gateway to a new season!
Examples of Things You Maybe Tolerating
I want to give you some examples of what I mean by "tolerating" something as you may be a bit confused! A lot of times, these are things we may not notice or pay attention to until that moment when you need it, and it is broken or dead! We've all had that happen, right?! When it does happen, we get annoyed, because we've tolerated it for so long without doing anything to change it.
This my friends is a total suck on both energy and joy!
Here are a few examples:
- Unsharpened pencils in every drawer (and no sharpener in site).
- Long lost hair ties, where do they go? Try and find them a permanent home!
- A closet that is disorganized and hard-to-use front and bursts every time you try and put a coat in.
- Burnt-out light bulbs in hard to reach places.
- Full gutters that are causing some major overflow in your flower garden.
- Dead laptop battery that forces you to plug in at all times.
- Old makeup you haven't used in years.
- Almost empty bottles of sunscreen and old lotion you never used.
- Complete lack of hangers in the closet, so things get thrown in.
Again, these are just examples, but I wouldn't be surprised if you walk around your house and find a few of them! Likely, this is just a sample of the things you will find that you are tolerating.
Wrap It Up
Ok, let's go over the challenge again before I leave you. Write down ten things you are tolerating and then over the next week take time to eradicate each one. Let's be realistic about time...how long does it take to change a light bulb (I'm not even setting up a cheesy joke!)? But really, 5 minutes? Clean out the makeup bag...ten minutes?
Things that we just let go because we think there isn't time are unacceptable. We want to create joy in our home!
The goal is to not just survive and think oh another day has come and gone. I want you to thrive! This is it friends! We only get one time around, and I want you to have a fit mind full of happiness, peace, and joy. It really does start with your home. That is why I want you to create joy in your home, so you have a sanctuary to recharge in every night.
Without Further Ado, Here is the Twentieth Edition:
Before I leave you until next week, I want to know how this challenge goes for you. Please leave comments, hit me up on SM, and let me know how you create joy in your home!! This is within your control, and I know you can do it!
