Videos do contain colorful language, so pop on some headphones if you have kiddos around!
Welcome to the 2nd week of January! The Weekly Well is the place to be for change in 2020!! Brace yourself because I am not messin around. I am going to hit you right out of the gate with a challenge. Why? Well, I have decided that 2020 is the year for us all to expand. I am so pumped to present to you…drumroll, please…The 12-Minute Challenge (queue fireworks !!).
Maybe you are wondering why 12 minutes and why now? Well, there are 12 months in the year, and we tend to be more fresh, excited, and willing to try new things at the start of a new year. If we let this window pass, then our enthusiasm often dwindles as time ticks by. I mean ladies…if we start now, we have a WHOLE year ahead of us to make some serious change happen.
Progress means happiness. When we stagnate, we get depressed.
When we are honest with ourselves, we can admit that we need direction and accountability to stick with something new long enough to make a change. Also, you may know you want to amp it up this year but aren’t sure how. Well, guess what? Those concerns are precisely why I came up with the 12-Minute Challenge!!
12-Minute Challenge Explained
Here’s how the 12-minute challenge works:
- Each month I will unveil a new focus. (💡Starting today, so keep reading!!)
- Concentrate on that focus for 12 minutes every day for the whole month.
- Every week within the month, I will provide prompts, ideas, and directions to encourage you along.
Here’s the thing friends, we are all creatures of habit, both bad and good! What we want to do is replace bad habits with good ones! The old adage is it takes 21 days to change a habit. There is some speculation that it takes longer, but regardless of where the truth lies, we are going t with a one-month timeframe!
We need to give our brains enough time and information to rewire with the change. How do we do that? Repetition for a month!! That is why I am asking you to focus on this one new thing every day for a month. If you forget or miss a day, don’t worry about it! Move on and try again the next day.
12 minutes may seem like forever to some and too short for others! You may find 12 minutes is a long time for a concentrated effort, but not so long that you can’t find the time in your day. We are all busy and have different priorities. Still, it is so important to take the time to make positive changes in our lives. Friends, this is the method I use to make changes in my life!
January's 12-Minute Challenge- Journaling
I swear I could hear groans when you read the focus for January!! Let me clue you in on the why before you tune out. 😉 Journaling is very cathartic. I am not opening up that as a question for debate, but rather a challenge for you to journal for 12 minutes every day for all of January.
Here are some journaling ideas:
- What do you want to happen in your life?
- Do you have any intentions for the day/week/month?
- Come December, what will be your highlights for 2020? Remember that PDF I gave you last month? That is a great place to start! Click here to get a copy.
- Each week in January, I will provide tips and suggestions to help you along the journaling road!
What's To Come
Come February, I will unveil a new focus for you to work on for 12 minutes a day. Feel free to keep journaling if you loved it! Just remember to try the new focus too. I want you to expand, remember? Sometimes that means getting outside of your comfort zone! We are progressing so we can have excitement, happiness, and creativity in our lives.
If you feel any kind of uncomfortable feelings about change, remember we are all human! I am not going to chastise you if you didn’t do the 12 minutes, I am here to encourage you! It is a new decade and a perfect time for change. 12 minutes is totally doable! Can you imagine how much serious ass you will have kicked by December?
To recap, the challenge for January is to journal for 12 minutes every day…whatever you want to journal! Go get em!
