Hey there lovelies! It's been a while, and I wanted to check in with you.
How are you?
If you're anything like me, the "how are you?" can literally be answered in 15 different ways within 15 minutes.
Holy shit, what a year! Covid. The never-ending election. Riots. Uncertainty. At times my insides feel like they are about to vomit out all over the place (not pretty!).
Frustration. Dread. Holy Balls. Seriously, wth!!!
So I'm taking a gamble that you're feeling like me...at least some of the time. And if you are, I want to offer some reminders and share what's been helping me through these times.
Uncertainty Tips & Tricks
At its core, our country is tough. It is resilient and will survive. Take a minute to remember all we have overcome, overturned, and made stronger. We are a democracy, and your voice matters. Don't give up believing what you believe.
On the topic of voice, it matters what you are saying both out loud and within your own head. We can not expect to talk about, pontificate, and worry about things endlessly without having some negative effects. There is a direct link from all that chatter in the brain to a more moody, sad, and depressed you.
It is more important than ever to listen to "just enough," be informed, and then turn it ALL off and walk away.
And speaking of walking, now is not the time to curl up in a ball and hide (perfect segway there!). When I least want to exercise is precisely when I know I need to do it the most.
Walk, my friend.
Motion changes emotion. It literally balances us internally, produces feel-good chemicals that flood our brain and body. Our bodies are extraordinary. They heal. They overcome, and they continue to grow. It's friggin amazing! Exercise your body and let it help you feel better.
Lastly, please remember this, we grow from setbacks and uncertainty. Yep, I know it sucks at the time. Truly, I understand! But if we've learned anything from history (think back on your own too), we know that out of our greatest darkness comes hope, light, and strength!
